Epoxy Flooring: Hylife Foods

We were honoured to be chosen to be a part of the construction team on one of the largest Pork Producers in Canada’s most recent expansion. TCF West was chosen amongst several National and local flooring companies to install over 50,000 square feet of a 1/4″ Polyurethane Cement decorative broadcast system. The system was chosen for its anti-microbial aspects and its ability to withstand continuous high heat cleaning, that is necessary in a federally inspected food facility. This job brought to the table all the core competencies that we have gained recognition for:

-Large Project Management: Having the right equipment and people allow us to tackle large floors in compressed timelines. At various times on this project we had 2 shot blasters, 3 planers, 2 large planetary grinders, 4 x 480 volt Hepa vacuums, numerous bush hammers, hand grinders, forced action mixers. We pushed the limits of pour widths for such a system to limit seams and provide not only a highly functional floor but great looking.

-Technical Concrete Repair: Sections of the floor required removal from 1/4″ to 1″ thick due to finishing issues. In order to keep ahead of the equipment being delivered, we used ups to 3 planers simultaneously to quickly plane down to sound concrete in some instances. Then using forced action mixers , re-scredding in fast curing repair mortars. Somedays screeding in the am and pouring in the PM!

-Attention to Detail: Every project we tackle we work by the motto, “The devil is in the Details!” Systems like Flowcrete’s SRQ 1/4″ PU Concrete require installation details critical to long term performance; for example, gently reducing concrete height at the trench drains and locking in with a keyway. This project had literally miles of trench drain and tremendous efforts were made to ensure that a potential future-failure point, were installed correctly and efficiently. We take pride in our historically low deficiency rate on projects and delivery of outstanding product the first time around.
