WINNIPEG, MB: TCF West Inc., a Canadian commercial and industrial flooring installation company headquartered in Winnipeg, is nearing the halfway mark of a major contract in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. The company has been working with general contractor PCL for several months to install high-quality epoxy and terrazzo flooring in the new Portage Regional Health Centre.
When completed, the new Portage Regional Health Centre will replace the current 105,000-square-foot, 88-bed Portage District General Hospital with a 275,000-square-foot, 114-bed facility complete with expanded emergency department, increased day surgery capacity, ambulatory care, Indigenous health services cultural space, and enhanced spaces for programs such as diagnostics, palliative care, outpatient services, and more. Reflecting the shape of nearby Crescent Lake, it has been designed in consultation with local Indigenous partners to inspire a connection with nature as well as offer patients state-of-the-art care in a comfortable yet ultramodern environment.
Epoxy and terrazzo are increasingly in-demand flooring options for hospitals and healthcare facilities due to their outstanding durability, moisture and bacterial resistance, long lifespan, and straightforward maintainability. Installed over a concrete base, they hold up exceptionally well to the high traffic associated with hospitals, while also enhancing spaces small and large with unique and stunning aesthetics.
