WINNIPEG, MB:  Buffalo Crossing, a new 18,000-square-foot building designed to facilitate year-round programming and environmental education opportunities at Winnipeg’s FortWhyte Alive, is set to open to the public later this spring.  TCF West Concrete Finishing and Repair, one of Canada’s leading providers of commercial and industrial flooring services, is proud to have contributed to the project’s award-winning, low-carbon design through the installation of polished concrete flooring with special terrazzo inlay.

Headquartered in Winnipeg but serving all regions of Canada, Technical Concrete Finishes West (TCF West) is known for its imaginative, long-enduring industrial flooring solutions, exceptional craftspersonship, and ability to solve complex concrete flooring issues.  The company has contributed to numerous high-profile construction projects throughout Manitoba and other provinces and is often specified by name due to its reputation for precision and leadership in Canada’s commercial and industrial flooring industry.  TCF West’s services include polished concrete, polished concrete toppings, terrazzo, epoxy floors, F-min grinding, concrete repair, surface preparation, and more.

Recently, TCF West worked with general contractor PCL to install polished concrete and terrazzo flooring inlay for FortWhyte Alive’s new Buffalo Crossing, an 18,000-square foot, multi-purpose building located at 2505 McGillivray Blvd. The building is set to open to the public sometime in spring 2025 and will accommodate a variety of programming and outdoor education opportunities.  Buffalo Crossing’s unique mass timber design incorporates elements of Indigenous culture and connects to the rest of FortWhyte Alive’s extensive trail system via a new pedestrian and cyclist bridge across Muir Lake.  It will be accessible by public transportation and has already received the 2023 Design Award from the Passive House Network and the Metropolis Planet Positive Award for its innovative, sustainable design.

“Buffalo Crossing is a remarkable project in many ways,” said TCF West Concrete Finishing and Repair owner, Michael Rosenblat.  “TCF West is proud to have helped bring FortWhyte’s vision to life with stunning, sustainable flooring that will endure for many years and we eagerly anticipate its opening to the public!”
