Application Areas

Traffic coatings are typically installed in high-traffic areas, especially areas exposed to the elements. The excellent waterproofing, durability, and service life offered by high-quality traffic coating systems means that they are often installed on:

Parking lots and parking garages

Bridges

Stadiums and arenas

Warehouses

Access ramps

There are also traffic coatings designed to be used on non-concrete surfaces; these traffic coatings may be installed on wooden surfaces that are exposed to pedestrian traffic, like pedestrian bridges and patios.

Benefits Of Traffic Coating

Concrete deteriorates as a result of moisture and contaminants like de-icing salts and sands penetrating its porous surface. This penetration can lead to spalling in the concrete and corrosion in the rebar. When the steel rebar has undergone too much corrosion, it can expand, fracturing the concrete.

Traffic coatings provide a protective barrier against moisture and other contaminants. This barrier preserves your concrete through a top coat of aggregates designed to withstand wear and tear, and a waterproofing base coat to prevent moisture from infiltrating your concrete surface.

Types Of Traffic Coatings

There are several traffic coating systems available. At the most basic, there are single-component and two-component traffic coating systems. Two-component systems are generally preferred because of their faster cure times.

Traffic coating systems may also consist of several different types of resins. Polyurethanes, epoxies, and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) are all commonly employed in traffic coatings, along with a variety of different aggregates to provide a durable top coat.

Our Traffic Coating Process

We begin the traffic coating process by evaluating the needs of your project—the surface that needs protection, the type of traffic it sees, its level of exposure to moisture and contaminants, and other factors.

Once our initial assessment is complete, we recommend the traffic coating system that’s best suited for the task at hand. We offer epoxy, polyurethane, and PPMA traffic coatings; the variety of coatings we have available allows us to protect surfaces of all kinds. For areas that see extremely heavy traffic, we have coating systems that use multiple protective aggregate coatings to endure the greater levels of wear and tear expected.

When a traffic coating system has been agreed upon, our team will give you accurate estimates for the cost of the coating and the time it will take for the coating to be applied. Our coatings are designed to work quickly, mitigating the amount of downtime the area being coated will experience.
